Gin Lane dead ends into Old Town Road.
According to William Mulvihill in his book South Fork Place Names, "Old Town was the original (1640) settlement at Southampton. Old Town Road was Southampton's first street. The Howells and Piersons were ealry Puritan settler families from Massachusetts who built simple houses in this locality, planted their crops and survived to create the village." Simple houses no longer.
Old Town Pond is now surrounded by some amazing homes.
The beach right there.
Perhaps a little too right there.
Back home the magnolia are starting to bloom and have I filled out my registration card for the 75th Annual Artist Members Exhibition at Guild Hall. This year's show is April 27th - June 1st.
