Polar Euphoria

The cold weather continues. A mild afternoon was followed by an evening of light snow and plunging temperatures. I was listening to Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion on the radio while cooking dinner Saturday night and GK said that the people of St. Paul, Minnesota all had cheery smiles on their faces due to Involuntary Polar Euphoria. The sudden happiness of knowing that everyone else was just as miserable as you are. Perfect.
The forbidding weather keeps me indoors reading, cleaning house and planning the next painting. Inspiration comes from the objects themselves and other painters. Sara Lamb is an artist that I admire. Her still life below from a recent Grenning Gallery show was also on the cover of Dan's Papers. An interview with Sarah Lamb from Dan's is here.

I'm always inspired after a visit.
Its never to early to dream of spring gardening.
Back in the garage,
Red surfboard dreaming of summer.
Red shovel dreaming of winter.
Or is it the other way around?
