Firefly Summer

Summer nights dining al fresco.
Swallows diving.
Sun setting.
The fireflies emerge.
Above, my attempt at capturing their flight with my iphone camera.

The nights are getting cool now. Savor the warm days that remain.

  1. Lovely, Gail! I grew up in Pennsylvania and CT and I remember the fireflies. Nothing like the summers back there. Miss them. But fall was and still is my favorite season. The days are getting shorter and fall is right around the corner. I am enjoying the last days of summer! Love the images you included!

    1. No fireflies in Cali? I didn't realize that! There were a few fireflys tonight even though it is cooler. The sunset now is 7:45. Something about the dusk light tonight made the flights leaving JFK for Europe and beyond look like distant versions of the firefly lights as they passed overhead.

  2. Still!
    You captured them!
    I never see them here:-(
Is it because I am only out after dark maybe 2 nights a summer now?
    Look at your hydrangeas!

    1. Monique, I think you need it to be the perfect temperature and humidity for them. I may be too late for you this summer... I have hydrangea all around my back yard! Yes, spoiled :)
