The Guild Hall members exhibition always feels like the opening of the Hamptons art season. This year over 450 works are on display. Any artist that is a museum member can submit work. Besides being a great introduction to artists of the East End, it is also a wonderful fund raiser for the museum. Guild Hall keeps 50% of all sale proceeds. This year's show is on until June 4th. I love this show because I can be in it!
As an artist participant, having work hanging on a wall inside Guild Hall is exciting enough. For additional excitement, awards are given. The Top Honors prize wins a solo exhibition at Guild Hall. This year's juror is Marla Prather, a Curator in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year's Top Honors winner is a layered tapestry by Pamela B. Topham. You have to see it in person to appreciate its beauty.
