Surreal Kingdom

"Although the dream is a very strange phenomenon and an inexplicable mystery,  far more inexplicable is the mystery and aspect our minds confer on certain objects and aspects of life."
The Surrealist artists sought to channel the unconscious as a means to unlock the power of the imagination. Disdaining rationalism and literary realism, and powerfully influenced by psychoanalysis, the Surrealists believed the rational mind repressed the power of the imagination.. via

I met my sister in Disney World for the Princess Half Marathon. It may have been the lack of sleep (2:45 wake-up for a 5:00 a.m. start) but the day felt like a surrealist dream. The runners all in costume, from tutus and sparkle skirts to favorite Disney characters. Every mile or so Disney characters assembled to meet the runners. We mostly gaped in awe, but did stop for the Fairy Godmother. I was teary eyed and my spirit soared as we approached Cinderella's Castle through the cheering Main Street crowd. The entire experience was surreal, from the iconic geosphere of Spaceship Earth to the eerie purple jellyfish at the Seas with Nemo exhibit. We absolutely had a magical day.
